Tune In: Wed Oct 20th, 8pm CT
During the summer months GGS worked with AMS Pictures to complete a documentary for the History Channel. The 2 hour documentary, I Am Alive: Surviving the Andes Plane Crash, recounts one of the greatest human survival stories of all time. On Friday the 13th of October, 1972, a plane carrying 45 passengers crashed high in the Andes Mountains. GGS artists recreated the plane and the Andes in full CG. An accurate depiction of the plane crash was created based on the flight documents and the memories of the survivors.
Of the passengers, 16 survived. The group was assumed dead for 72 days.

For the next 2 1/2 months following the crash the survivors battled malnutrition, hypothermia, and dehydration. The imposing threat each of these conditions takes on the human body is depicted through CG created by GGS. One of the ways the group was able to survive the severe environment surrounding them was by utilizing the deceased for food. While the thought of eating other people isn't too appealing - one can understand the lack of options they had. The group was faced with the choice to survive or perish.
Nando Parrado, one of the survivors, recounts his story for the documentary. Parrado lost both his mother and sister in the crash, but turned his sadness into strength that led him to attempt the impossible - journey through the Andes to find civilization and salvation for him and 15 of his friends.
Tune in to the History Channel on Wednesday, Oct 20th and 8pm CT to hear the amazing story and see the incredible graphics and visuals that Green Grass provided to bring this story to life.

Scooby, Scooby-Doo!
...Where are you?!
It's been years since I watched the syndications of the original Scooby-Doo cartoons, but somehow I can still hear the theme song in my head when the topic comes up. Since the original series, the lovable, loyal dog has been passed down to new generations through various series spin-offs throughout the late 80's and 90's and through the live action/CG movies that started in 2002.
The newest installment to the Scooby-Doo franchise, Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster, is a made for TV movie by Warner Premiere that combines live action and CG characters. When a creepy lake monster attacks Erie Point, it's up to Shaggy, Scooby, Velma, Fred, and Daphne to unmask the mystery. The movie premieres on the Cartoon Network, Saturday October 16th at 6pm CT. But don't worry if you miss it, just check out the TV schedule to find out when it reruns!
Jesse Sandifer, Art Director and Co-Owner at GGS, took on the challenge of interpreting concept guidelines from Fuse FX to put together a memorable CG creature for the Scooby-Doo franchise. Jesse designed, modeled, textured, and created an advanced muscle system in order to achieve realistic dynamic animation for the creature.
